Project Fashion Show '18
Project Fashion Show 2k18 was my second year working with the show, This year I was in charge of front of the house completely and marketing for the program. I created the program brochures and signage, in addition to strategizing for the digital marketing aspect and some PR work. We went for a more creative and exclusive vibe with this show. We had a neon theme and the venue? A ducked off warehouse.
highlights:
Our theme for Project Fashion Show 2018 was my favorite aspect of the show this year. We planned the neon theme inside of a warehouse instead of the traditionally lit fashion show. This opened up creativity for designing the brochures and creating the layout for the Instagram landing page.
Learning Experiences:
This year we had some unexpected curve balls during the show. Last year I learned by taking part in the coordinating of a massive production. This year I learned by having to work on my feet when things go awry. Story time: We had one of our most trusted and talented designers create an installation for his presentation in the show. We knew going into it that the turn around backstage would have to be hasty and well timed. We would have to clear our the models, clean up the backstage destruction and make the installation presentable. Things did not go as planned. Through a series of downward spiraling mishaps, the installation began to unravel. The designer became frustrated and well, quit. Before anything was finished, while attendees were waiting for the hyped up installation that was to be the grand finale, the designer quit. We ended up having to transition our guests out, without closure and much confusion. I learned how to keep my head under pressure and try to make a difficult situation look less complicated than it was. I also had to learn how to adapt to the feeling of a job gone wrong.
Stand OuT Model
Daj Falen returned to walk for us this year. She made another appearance at NYFW shortly after appearing in our show. Falen continues to grow her modeling portfolio and following on Instagram. We are prepared to see her break out in a major way in the upcoming months.
